Tim L. Smith, CPA, was born and reared in Jacksonville, Texas and was a proud graduate of Jacksonville School District, class of 1961. Tim attended Lon Morris College, Tyler Junior College, and completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at Stephen F. Austin State University, graduating January, 1965, three and one half years from date of high school graduation. Tim commuted to classes from Jacksonville during most of his college days as well as worked to help pay for his college education. In 1970 Tim returned to Jacksonville and opened his CPA practice continuing to practice until his death in 2013. Tim loved Jacksonville and was a friend to all. He had great faith in today’s youth. His family is pleased to offer the scholarship funded by Tim’s family, friends, and associates.

The qualifications for the scholarship are: graduate of JISD; full time enrollment (12 hours) in college or vocational school; $500 to be paid first semester, additional $500 second semester with 2.5 GPA; preference given to students who commute.
